Art during church?

A few weeks ago we had 6 baptisms at the morning service of the church I attend. I was asked to do art during the service as part of the worship experience. Here is what happened...

The people at the end were selecting images that represented either things they had been set free from or things they had been set free into through new life in Christ. One person picked a penguin. I am still trying to figure that one out!

  1. Maybe that person had been set free to work on Linux? (Geek joke.)

How did you get asked to do that? Were you just asked to "do art"? (It probably sounds more strange if you read it out.) Is it anything like "doing church"?

  2. Hi Paul
Our church did a series on Worship is more than just Music awhile back and during that artists in the congregation did painting, flower arranging, etc throughout the service. Finding that people liked seeing that going on, we now occasionally throw it into a service. So I was asked. This is the second time I have done it. I always make sure there is an audience participation element, hence them adding their selected images on at the end. Last time I let people write on my art.
